Our road trip to see the Arches, Valleys & Canyons was truly unforgettable and most scenic drive we’ve ever completed. We spent just over a week and started in the vibrant city of Las Vegas and set our sight on our first destination to iconic Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.
1. Bryce Canyon National Park
This beautiful park consists of many beautiful hoodoos (irregular rock columns), hiking trails and breathtaking scenery to see in person. Click here if you wish to view all the many trails, cost and seasonal information. Parking is available at the hiking points, however is limited and may easily fill up on weekends. You may also take the shuttle bus into the park if you want to avoid the hassles of full parking lots.
We parked at the sunset point and hiked the highly recommended Queens Navajo-Wall street loop which is a total of 2.9 mi/4.6 km with an average completion time of 2-3 hrs total. The pathway is relatively easy to complete with young children but does involve some steep steps as you ascend/descend through the pathways. As you complete this trail, you will come across the breathtaking viewpoint of Bryce Amphitheater. There are more accessible viewpoints in the park for those those are less physically able to complete the hikes.
2. Arches National Park
Our second destination, led us to the stunning Arches National Park. As soon as you enter the park, you are blown away by the sheer vastness and beauty of these natural rock formations caused by water and wind erosion overtime. You can easily spend the entire day visiting all the popular arches and rock formations as it is a total of 310 km/ 120 square miles. Click here to reserve you entrance time as it is required during peak times between April to October. This park is very family friendly as many popular viewpoints are short and easy hikes.
QUICK TIP: If you’d like easy access to Arches National Park, we highly recommend you stay at Under Canvas Moab, which is only less than 10 minutes drive away from the entrance! The experience is so unique and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, you get to connect with nature more as you sleep under the stars! ✨ These safari-inspired accommodations are next-level camping! The spacious tents come complete with plush king-size beds, luxurious linens, en suite bathrooms, fresh towels, hot running water, and a wood-burning stove for chilly nights. Happy, well-rested glampers wake to serene sounds of nature. Be sure to check out our quick review about it here:
3. Monument Valley
Ahhh the WILD WILD WEST! 🤠🐎 Monument Valley is area we’ve always wanted to explore as we were big fans of good ol’ movies like Back to the Future and Forrest Gump. Or perhaps it just makes you imagine being in the shoes of the likes of John Wayne in the midst of cowboy life. Nevertheless, these historic sites are just filled with Mother Nature’s eye candy! Who would have thought all this was under water at one point thousands of years ago! Add a few cycles of erosion, compression and time — thus creating these amazing structures we see today! We highly recommend staying at the View Hotel overnight to capture the most incredible night/sunrise shots.
4. Antelope Canyon
Our last and final destination led us to one of the most visited Canyon in Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon, has always been a place we’ve wanted to visit on our bucket list and surely did not disappoint. The tours are so popular for Antelope Canyon and I highly recommend booking in advanced as there only 2 select tour operators available. We decided to book the lower antelope canyon tour and had an incredible and informative tour guide with Ken’s Tours.
The lower Antelope Canyon does involve some physical mobility as you will have to ascend/descend some pretty steep stairs and make your way through some narrow pathways. For this reason, I would recommend for those less physically able to book the upper Antelope Canyon tour instead. The natural daylight creates some remarkable light beams throughout the Canyon and makes for some fun & creative photographs.
As you complete your tour in the Antelope Canyon, you can drop by the Horseshoe Bend which is located only a few minutes away in the same town of Page, Arizona. Ample of parking is available at a daily rate.
This has been one heck of a road trip filled with eye-candy at every angle you looked! That reddish color in those rocks are one you can only find in certain parts of the world. And surely, there’s just something about those color tones that remind you of the “old wild west”. 🤠🐎 So giddyup, get on a your four-wheel horse and head out west into that sunset! 🌅 It’s one beautiful road trip you won’t forget!
